How do we bring more creativity into our everyday lives? It starts by paying attention, and planting and painting flora is the perfect exercise to do just that. We invite your kiddos to join local artist Ashley James with Works from the heART, LLC and local wildcrafter Jess Buttermore with Cedar House Living for a workshop that’s focused on tapping into our creativity and using the gift of gardening and watercolor painting as tools for paying close attention to what’s happening around us in the natural world. Your children will combine gardening, drawing, painting, and writing as tools for cultivating a sense of presence.
This class will include:
Young gardeners will plant their very own organic flower starts (grown especially for them from seed in Jess’s greenhouse) while they explore the basics of planting, watering, and caring for their new mini garden.
Each child will take home their own potted flower bucket of starts to nurture and watch grow, along with a newfound appreciation for gardening. Perfect for little hands and big imaginations
Your young artist will learn introductory techniques for drawing and watercolor painting and walk away with a personalized 5x7 watercolor painting of violas that even Claude Monet would be proud of!
This in-person workshop is perfect for kids to tap into creative inspiration and hone in on tools to take their creative practice outside. There will be a combination of conversational lecture and garden-based activities of drawing, painting or writing.
Ideal for Ages 5+. Any kids younger than this, we suggest parental supervision.
Class size limited to 16 participants - seats are reserved for those registered. Parents may either drop off or standby (seating is limited).
There are no refunds provided for this class.
